Mr. Jesse Rempel, B.A., is Sand Story’s Intern therapist this year. He is in his fourth year of his Doctoral program in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) at Adler University. He has been providing psychoeducational assessments and individual therapy with children, youth, and adults over the past three years. Mr. Rempel is passionate about helping clients healing from trauma and has a particular interest in working with anxiety and attachment within the family context.
Mr. Rempel draws from a variety of clinical approaches, such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), play therapy, and narrative therapy. He takes an attachment based, client-centered stance across all of his work. Mr. Rempel strives to create a secure base from which his clients can fulfill their emotional and support needs. Mr. Rempel believes in accepting clients at their developmental stage and nurturing the personal strengths and coping skills they already possess. He sees clients for psychoeducational assessments and provides sliding scale counselling services for children, adolescents, and families.
Beyond his work at Sand Story, Mr. Rempel is writing his doctoral dissertation on the effectiveness of music therapy within an adolescent population.
