Dr. Hein Swanepoel
Dr. Hein Swanepoel is registered as a psychologist in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario, and has been in practice for more than 12 years. While he has a broad range of therapy and assessment experience gleaned from working in hospital, school, university, community mental health, and private practice settings, his practice currently focuses solely on diagnostic assessments for autism and related neurodevelopmental disorders.
Working from a neuro-affirming stance, Dr. Hein focuses on helping parents, educators, and health providers understand children’s unique strengths and areas in need of support. In addition to making school-based recommendations for academic success, he frequently consults with therapists working with neurodiverse clients to help them adapt standard treatment approaches to more closely align with the needs of autistic individuals of all ages.
Dr. Hein is currently accepting referrals for autism spectrum disorders for children as young as 30 months old. All assessments follow the standards and guidelines outlined by the BC Autism Assessment Network, thus enabling families to access supports provided by the Ministry of Child and Family Development.
